The CONEC RJ45 Magnetic Modular Jack (RJ45 MM-Jack) connector series has been specifically
designed for use with 10Base-T and 100Base-Tx LAN Ethernet applications, as defined by
IEEE 802.3u Standard Organization. This series of connector is widely specified for use in
telecommunications and data transmission. It is an ideal solution to suppress EMI and common mode noise in a wide range of Ethernet
networking applications, such as network cards, hubs, concentrators, motherboards, bridges, router
switches and point to point links. The CONEC RJ45 MM-Jack provides excellent common mode and
EMI noise suppression that delivers reliable and enhanced filtering performance.

Construction of
RJ45 MM-Jack |
|
Available in single
port, 2, 4, 6, 8 ports and in Through Hole or SMT versions. Each port integrates a 10/100Base-Tx Magnetic Module, with one of the
following two different configurations:
|
|
| - Two isolation transformers and two common mode chokes
|
|
| or
|
|
| - Two isolation transformers and common mode chokes as
well as an additional shunt choke in the transmission channel
|
|
| 4 x 75W
resistors and a 1000pF/2kv capacitor is also integrated into each port. Two of the resistors
are connected to the centre tap of the transformers. One of the resistors is connected to unused pins
#4 & #5 of connector. The last resistor is connected to unused pins #7 & #8 of
connector. All
resistors are then connected to the 1000pF/2kv capacitor, this provides a low impedance ground path
that reduces common mode noise. LEDs are also available as an option for the RJ45 MM-Jack series.

Saving the Board
"Real Estate" |
| The integration of the
Magnetic Module and several discrete components into the RJ45 MM-Jack
save valuable board space. The use of standard RJ45 connectors would require additional space on
the customer board for those components.
|
|
|
Provides better
EMC |
| EMI susceptibility radiated
emission and near field noise coupling is dramatically reduced as the traces
between the connector and LAN transceiver IC are minimized through this integration solution.
Moreover, the internal layout of the components reduce cross talk and optimize PCB trace routing.

Helps system to
pass the low emission requirements |
|
Emission requirements
apply to the system not to the components. CONEC RJ45 MM-Jack helps
system to achieve the low emission requirement, since it provides
excellent common mode and EMI noise suppression.
